The Department of Geology periodically offers internships, typically in association with the Illinois State Geological Survey (ISGS) in Champaign.  For example, past interns assisted scientists from the ISGS and the faculty of the WIU Geology Department in production of geologic maps for portions of western Illinois.  Upperclassmen chosen for the internships receive an hourly wage while gaining real-world experience in both field work and laboratory methods.  If you have any questions about our internship program please contact Dr. Peter Calengas at (309) 298-1151.
