International Admissions

International students typically attend on an F-1 or J-1 student visa. If you are a permanent resident or asylee, you should complete the appropriate application through Undergraduate Admissions or School of Graduate Studies.

When should I apply?

Students should submit their application at least six months before their intended semester of enrollment to begin the admission process. The following dates should help you plan accordingly:

Term Submit Application Supporting Documents Due Financial Proof Due
Fall February 01 April 01 July 05
Spring July 01 September 01 November 30
Summer January 15 March 01 April 15

Submit Application: You should submit your online application by the date stated above to begin your admission process and to allow enough time for the next steps.

Supporting Documents Due: This is the deadline for submitting the rest of your application materials to ensure that your application is considered for your preferred term. Late submissions may result in your application being moved to the next processing cycle.

Financial Proof Due: This is the deadline for submitting your financial documentation showing evidence that you can pay for your first year of study at WIU. This deadline provides adequate time for finalizing and shipping your acceptance packet so you can make visa and travel plans.
