Faculty Research Projects

Sixteen workshops and seminars will be held to instruct faculty members, business leaders, and community representatives about economic and rural development. These workshops are designed to allow each school to share its expertise.

Year 1

During the summer of 2007 Elfego Hernández, María de la Luz Fernández (Bio) from "Universidad Autónoma de Queretaro", and Arturo Castellanos from "Universidad Técnica de la Selva" came to Macomb, Illinois to collaborate with WIU faculty members during a 30-day period from June to August.

At that same period these faculty research team developed the project “DESARROLLO INTEGRAL SUSTENTABLE PARA LA REGION DE LA SELVA, CHIAPAS".

Year 2
Two UTS faculty members and two WIU faculty members will come to Queretaro, Mexico to collaborate with UAQ faculty members for 30 days.

Year 3
Two UAQ faculty members and two WIU faculty members will come to Chiapas, Mexico to collaborate with UTS faculty members for 30 days.


Faculty Sabbaticals in the US

Faculty sabbaticals are included in this program to unite faculty members from different countries and different departments, such as agriculture and business. These sabbaticals will facilitate a greater exchange of knowledge, training, and cultural understanding.

Year 1

Elfego Hernández a faculty member from UAQ is at this moment performing research activities at WIU for a 13-week period from September to December.


Biography

Veterinarian graduated from Univ. Nacional Autónoma of México and Master in Administration at Univ. Autónoma of Querétaro. Has participated in different courses, in countries like Israel, and United Estates. At the moment, he works as a Professor at the Natural Sciences Faculty of the Univ. Autónoma of Querétaro.

Also, works in the “Integral Development Sustainable for the region of La Selva, Chiapas” project, in coordination with the Univ. Tecnologica de La Selva.

Spanish

Licenciado en Medicina Veterinaria y Zootecnia por la Univ. Nacional Autónoma de México y Master en Administración por la Univ. Autónoma de Querétaro. Ha participado en el curso “Administración de empresas del sector social” en Tel-Avi, Israel y además cuenta con varios diplomados. Actualmente se desempeña como Docente e Investigador en la universidad de Querétaro en la Facultad de Ciencias Naturales.

Participa en el Proyecto “Desarrollo Integral Sustentable para la región de La Selva, Chiapas”, en coordinación con la Univ. Tecnológica de La Selva.

Year 2
A faculty member from UTS will come to WIU for a 13-week sabbatical from September to December.
