Course Enrollment & Prerequisites

Undergraduates will be enrolled in BAT 300 for 3 semester hours while graduate students will be enrolled in BAT 600 for 3 semester hours. Students will also be enrolled in a 3 semester hour Spanish course and their choice of MKTG 379, IM 340, or ECON 379. Placement in the Spanish course will be determined by each participant’s proficiency level. Attendance at a pre-departure orientation session is required of all participants. For the BAT 300/600 course, students will be assigned specific topics concerning business and cultural visits to research prior to departure.

The results of the research will be shared with the entire group in advance of the business or cultural visit. Participants are required to keep a daily journal of all activities during their time in Mexico. A report concerning the learning outcomes from the program is due after returning to the U.S. The MKTG 379, IM 340, ECON 379 and Spanish courses will be taught by the faculty at UACH. MKTG 379 gives students the practical keys and the theory to development functions related with international trade focusing on doing business in North America. IM 340 allows students to study the classification of the systems of information, from the transactional ones up to the managerial ones, explaining the difference between each of them, in order that the student can distinguish and use them in form and time. ECON 379 trains students to identify the moral, ethical, ecological, geographical, and social problems of their environment and to develop possible solutions for them. The Spanish courses allow students learn both language and culture. Required readings and other materials relevant to the course will be provided. All students must meet the Study Abroad eligibility requirements (see reverse). Enrollment is limited to 20 participants.
