Program: Sport Management

Program Overview

The Department of Kinesiology offers the Master of Science degree in Sport Management. This program was established in 1972 and is one of the oldest Sport Management programs in the United States. The broad mission of the degree program is to assist students in developing conceptual and theoretical understandings and in obtaining the knowledge and skills which will prepare them as researchers/scholars, practitioners, managers, or administrators in their respective interest areas. Typically, a full-time student will complete the requirements for the degree in two years.

A Master of Science degree in Sport Management can lead to a wide variety of professional career choices in the sports industry. Sport Management graduates pursue careers in school, college, or university settings; amateur or professional sports; and private or public sport businesses. Our Faculty

Courses in the Kinesiology department are taught by faculty members who hold degrees earned from universities across the United States and who are actively engaged in scholarship activities such as writing book chapters and books, conducting research, and making scholarly presentations at professional conferences. Some of the faculty members hold certifications offered through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
