Assistantship Positions


Please note: Assistantship positions are intended to complement the student’s program of study and a rationale may be required from the hiring department if the two are not clearly connected. Also, positions listed below may have already been filled. It is the student's responsibility to verify availability with the hiring departments. Should a student wish to have the assistantship application materials on file in the Graduate School sent to a department outside of their academic program, they must submit the request form (wiu.edu/grad/forms/GARequesttoDept.pdf)


Position: Full time Graduate Assistant (must be eligible for Federal Work Study)

Position: Two Graduate Assistantships for laboratory setup and supervision, assistance with faculty research, tutoring center for undergraduate studies, and grading of undergraduate lab reports and homework
Location: Department of Physics, Currens Hall 212, (309)298-1596 
Specific Requirements:  If an International Student, a minimum TOEFL score of 550 PBT, 79 IBT, or 213 CBT applies.  Must have an undergraduate (B.S.) degree in Physics or a closely related field.  Must have been accepted into the Physics M.S. program as a regular degree candidate and be enrolled for a minimum of 9 semester hours

Date of Employment: Spring 2010 semester
Specific Requirements: Degree seeking in Psychology, Sociology, Communication, Counselor Education, or field of study with particular relevance to women's issues (e.g., History/with emphasis in women's history; Political Science/with emphasis in women and politics; etc) are especially encouraged.
