How do I register to attend the Spring 2022 commencement ceremony?

Spring 2022 graduates must submit the graduation application by March 10, 2022.
Summer and Fall 2021 graduates will receive an email in the spring semester with registration information.

Where is the ceremony?

The Macomb graduate commencement ceremony will be held on Hanson Field. The Quad Cities combined commencement ceremony will be held at TaxSlayer Center in Moline.

Do I need tickets for the ceremony?

This information will be posted when it becomes available.

Are there rehearsals?

No rehearsals are held for any commencement activities. Commencement staff and marshals will direct you on the day of the ceremony.

What COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place?

Graduate and their guests are required to complete the Daily Self-Check before arriving on campus (https://www.wiu.edu/selfcheck/) and are asked to monitor their health in advance of their appointment date by taking their temperature and recognizing potential symptoms. Any graduate or guest exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 must refrain from attending the event. All staff, graduate students, and their guests must wear masks for the duration of the event and are expected to social distance. Graduates are permitted to remove masks for the photo.

Where do I purchase my Cap and Gown and Announcements?

The University Union Bookstore is the sole provider of officially licensed Western Illinois University graduation regalia. wiu.edu/bookstore.

The University Union Bookstore (see wiu.edu/bookstore) and University Printing & Mailing Center (UPMC) (see www.wiu.edu/upm/grads) offer two different styles of graduation announcements. See their respective websites for more information.

Will I be hooded as part of the ceremony?

Where do I purchase the graduate hood for the ceremony?

This information will be posted when it becomes available.

What is the fee to purchase the graduate hood?

$65 for the master and specialist hood; $75 for the doctoral hood. Shipping within the United States can be done for an additional $5 per hood.

Is there a dress code?

You must wear the appropriate cap and gown. (View videos on properly wearing your cap & gown and graduate/doctoral hoods.)

Where do I park?

Q-Lot, on the east side of Western Hall is available for public parking. Handicapped-accessible parking spaces at the Macomb ceremony are available to the east and west of Western Hall.

When will I receive my diploma?

Diplomas are mailed approximately 6-8 weeks after commencement.

What if my name or address has changed since submitting my graduation application?

You must contact the School of Graduate Studies at (309)298-1806 or 877/WIU-GRAD to make changes.

Where do I store personal belongings during Commencement?

Please do not bring extra belongings. Storage is not available during the ceremony.

How do I order photos or a DVD of the ceremony?

Is my name listed in the commencement program?

Graduation applications must be on file in the School of Graduate Studies by March 10 (spring commencement) or October 10 (fall commencement) in order to be included in the online program.

Students who have completed the Exclusion of Directory Information form will not be listed in the program or have their names released to local media.

What if my guests or I need disability seating/assistance?

Graduating students, family members, and guests who need special assistance should contact Disability Resources at (309) 298-2512. Staff will be available to provide assistance with disability seating.

When will the listing of graduates be in my hometown newspaper?

Once the list has been processed, it is submitted to newspapers by University Relations. You can find the name you are looking for by going to www.wiu.edu/CountyNews/.
