Where do I purchase my Cap and Gown and Announcements?

The University Union Bookstore is the sole provider of officially licensed Western Illinois University graduation regalia.

Where do I get the graduate hood?

You may purchase the hood from the School of Graduate Studies by submitting the online order form. It can be mailed to you or you can schedule a pick-up time on the Macomb or Quad Cities campus after your order is confirmed. Click here to purchase. Cost is $65 for master and specialist and $75 for doctoral.

I would like to include a photo of myself for the virtual ceremony. What do I need to do?

Images must be emailed to by November 6 to be included in the virtual ceremony. Images should only include the graduate and meet the following guidelines: landscape orientation, 4x6 inches, 300 dpi. A standard iPhone photo is acceptable. Include your full name and WIU ID number in the email.

Where is the ceremony?

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fall ceremony will be available virtually on December 19, 2020 at 10 a.m. This will be available for viewing at the University's YouTube and Facebook pages.

When will I receive my diploma?

Diplomas are mailed approximately 6-8 weeks after commencement.

What if my name or address has changed since submitting my graduation application?

You must notify the Graduate School at to make changes.

Is my name listed in the commencement program?

Graduation applications must be on file in the School of Graduate Studies by March 10 (spring commencement) or October 10 (fall commencement) in order to meet printing deadlines. The program will be available online.

Students who have completed the Exclusion of Directory Information form will not be listed in the program or have their names released to local media.

When will the listing of graduates be in my hometown newspaper?
