Where do I purchase my Cap and Gown and Announcements?
The University Union Bookstore is the sole provider of officially licensed Western Illinois University graduation regalia. www.bookstore.wiu.edu/Graduation_ep_48.html.
The University Union Bookstore (see www.bookstore.wiu.edu/Graduation_ep_48.html) and Document and Publication Services (DPS) (see www.wiu.edu/dps/grads) offer two different styles of graduation announcements. See their respective websites for more information.
Where do I get the graduate hood for the ceremony?
The graduate hood is part of the ceremony. You will be hooded as you enter the stage. It must be purchased or returned following the ceremony.
Where do I purchase the graduate hood?
The graduate hood may be purchased after the ceremony. Graduate School personnel will be available after the ceremony to receive the graduate hoods or payment.
Is there a dress code?
You must wear the appropriate cap and gown (View videos on properly wearing your cap & gown and graduate/doctoral hoods.)
What is the fee to purchase the graduate hood?
$65 for the master and specialist hood; $75 for the doctoral hood.
Where is the ceremony?
Western Hall - Macomb (Fall and Spring)
The iWireless Center, Moline, IL (Spring only)
Where do I park?
Q-Lot, on the east side of Western Hall is available for public parking. Handicapped-accessible parking spaces at the Macomb ceremony are available to the east of Western Hall.
When will I receive my diploma?
Diplomas are mailed approximately 6-8 weeks after commencement.
What if my name or address has changed since submitting my graduation application?
You must notify the Graduate School representative at the Information Center the day of the ceremony or contact the School of Graduate Studies at (309)298-1806 or 877/WIU-GRAD to make changes.
Where do I store personal belongings during Commencement?
Please do not bring extra belongings. No storage is available during the ceremony.
How do I order photos or a DVD of the ceremony?
Is my name listed in the commencement program?
Graduation applications must be on file in the School of Graduate Studies by March 10 (October 10 for the fall ceremony) in order to meet printing deadlines.
Students who have completed the Exclusion of Directory Information form will not be listed in the program or have their names released to local media.
What if my guests or I need disability seating/assistance?
Family members and guests may contact the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access at (309)298-1977.
Graduating students who need special assistance should contact the Disability Resource Center office, (309)298-2512.
