Come join us on April 6th and 7th as we conclude our weeklong campaign to raise awareness of the need for low income housing in our area. We will be on the University Mall (Behind Stipes Hall) from noon on the 6th to noon on the 7th. Entertainment will include games, contests, and presentations from members of the Macomb/WIU community. All are welcome.
Building: Local groups and individuals are welcome to join us in building cardboard homes. Construction will begin on April 6th at noon and conclude at approximately 7 pm. The Campus chapter has supplied some materials, but it is encouraged that participants bring some of their own. Contests: Houses will be judged based on a variety of categories with prizes from local businesses being awarded to the favorites. These categories include, but are not limited to, most patriotic and best design. Presentations: Our keynote speaker will be the executive director of Habitat for Humanity McDonough County. Paul Nollen taught at Western Illinois University for thirty-two years before retiring. He has been with the McDonough County Affiliate for about ten years and has seen many homes constructed in our area. Sleep out: Feel free to stay the night and sleep in your newly constructed house
In the unfortunate event of rain we may need to cancel. There is currently no rain date, however we still appreciate your support. |
