Phi Eta Sigma |
Phi Eta Sigma is the first and largest honor society devoted to the achievement of first-year college students. Established at the University of Illinois in 1923, Phi Eta Sigma has chartered more than three hundred and fifty chapters and inducted 900,000 members. The re-chartering and induction ceremony publicly recognizes individual student accomplishment and encourages future high academic achievement. The ceremony provides members the opportunity to meet first-year scholars from academic disciplines on campus and to join in promoting the highest standards of scholarship. Members may apply for national chapter scholarships. More than eighty Western Illinois University students joined Phi Eta Sigma. All Western Illinois University freshman students invited to join Phi Eta Sigma had a 3.5 or greater GPA for the entire 2006-2007 school year at Western Illinois University. On Saturday, October 29, 2007, approximately 50 Western Illinois University students were inducted into Phi Eta Sigma. Western Illinois University Chapter Officers
