Honors Scholarships

 Study Abroad Honors Scholarship

Award: Up to $500 / Once per academic year
Criteria:

  • Good standing in the Centennial Honors College
  • Demonstrated progress toward the completion of honors requirements
  • A completed “Descriptive Proposal” form with required signatures
  • a letter of support from a full time faculty member

 Honors Research Grant

Award: Not to exceed $200 / Once per academic year
Criteria:

  • Good standing in the Centennial Honors College
  • Demonstrated progress toward the completion of honors requirements
  • Students must have a departmentally approved research project with a faculty research advisor and faculty research committee where relevant

 Dan and Laura Webb Pre-Law Scholarship

Award: $5,000 for each semester - $10,000 total
Criteria:

  • Member in good standing of the Centennial Honors College
  • Must be a Pre-Law Honors minor
  • Minimum 3.5 WIU GPA
  • Demonstrate leadership in the field of Pre-Law

 Ernest J. Codilis Jr. Pre-Law Scholarship

Award: $10,000
Criteria:

  • Good standing as a full-time student in the Centennial Honors College
  • Actively pursuing the Honors College Pre-Law Minor
  • Have at least a 3.0 GPA at WIU
  • Enrolled with senior standing the semester of scholarship disbursement
  • Demonstrate solid record of extracurricular participation- leadership preferred
  • Demonstrate solid record of campus and/or community service

 Paul M. Nollen Honors Biology Scholarship (competitive)

Award: $1,000
Criteria: Good standing in the Centennial Honors College

 Martin Dupuis Leadership Award for Historically Under Represented Communities

Award: $1,300
Criteria:

  • Must be a member of a historically under-represented community.
  • Excellence in leadership and scholarship
  • Good standing in the Honors College

 Cecile A. Christison Sterrett Award

Award: $1,350 in one lump sum Spring semester 
Criteria
:

  • Good standing in the Centennial Honors College
  • Resident of Illinois or Missouri
  • Minimum 3.6 GPA
  • Have completed the equivalent of one Honors class
  • Demonstrates financial need and be of good moral character
  • Demonstrated leadership or civic duty through activities or community service, with preference to activities in the Centennial Honors College

 Charles H. "Chick" & Barbara Joan Flack Pre-Law Scholarship

Award: $1,250 split in two equal installments ($625 Fall Semester & $625 Spring Semester) 
Criteria:

  • Good standing in the Centennial Honors College
  • Show intent to attend law school and practice law
  • Preference will be given to applicants from west central Illinois
  • Financial need is a consideration

 Keith Webb Memorial Scholarship

Award: $1500 split in two installments; non-renewable
Criteria:

  • Have a minor in pre-law
  • Have a 3.4 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Be in good judicial standing
  • Demonstrate strong potential for a career in law
  • Applicants should be committed to a career in Law
  • Preference will be given to juniors and seniors; however, all pre-law honors students are welcome to apply

 Gordon W. Kirk Honors History Scholarship

Award: $1,000 per year for 4 years
Criteria:

  • Have a minor in pre-law
  • ACT 27 and above, or 24 to 26 and top 10%
  • History Major, Honors Degree Candidate
  • Annual renewal requires 3.4 GPA, History major and continued enrollment in the Centennial Honors College
