Travel Directions from Chicago Airports to Union Station
If you are traveling by plane, an inexpensive way to travel to Union Station is by the CTA Trains:
The ORANGE line connects from Midway Airport. People wanting to connect to Union Station will need to exit the train at the Quincy stop. You may take a cab at this point--only a couple of blocks; or if you walk, go 1/2 block south to Jackson, turn right (West) on Jackson, go two blocks (cross the Chicago River) and Union Station is the first building on the right after the river (front is on Canal between Adams and Jackson—but you can enter the river-side, back door and go down the escalators to the ticketing area.) Travel time would probably be about 45 minutes.
BLUE line connects from O'Hare International Airport. You will need to exit the train at the Lake/Clark station. You will want to take a cab to Union Station (Canal and Adams)--it is probably too far to walk. Should you choose to walk--take Lake Street west to Canal (about 6 blocks). Turn left (South) on Canal (first street after the Chicago River) and walk 5 blocks south. Union Station is on
Canal between Adams and Jackson. Travel time would probably be about 1 hour.
Travel by Train is the least expensive way to Macomb –an AMTRAK City. It has been observed that the price of a train ticket from Chicago to Macomb is less than cab fare from the Airport to Union station.
