The Seventh Annual Western Illinois Horn Festival will be presented on Sunday, April 13, 2008
on the campus of Western Illinois University.
The featured Guest Hornist and Clinician will be MICHAEL HATFIELD : Professor of Music, Emeritus and retired Chair of the Brass Department at the Indiana University School of Music in Bloomington.
He has also served as Adjunct Professor and Chair of the Brass, Woodwind and Percussion Division at the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati, principal horn of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, as well as hornist with the Indianapolis Symphony, Aspen Festival Orchestra, the Santa Fe Opera, and Grand Teton Festival Orchestra.
He is an Honorary Member of the International Horn Society—as well as a recipient of the Punto Award. He has been very active as a guest artist, lecturer, and clinician at the symposia of the International Horn Society, many regional horn workshops, and the Kendall Betts Horn Camp. In 1994, he co-produced the acclaimed compact disc —Shared Reflections, The Legacy of Philip Farkas— for Summit Records.
