Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board Executive Institute

"One of the most important keys to success is having the discipline to do what you know you should do even when you don't feel like doing it." --unknown

Emilie works in the Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board (ILETSB) Executive Institute as an Office Support Specialist. She began her career at WIU in August 2007 as a Secretary II and was hired through the former Trainee Program (currently the Intern Program). She has progressively advanced to her current position and remains in the same department.

Emilie serves as the class registrar for all classes offered through the institute. She is responsible for the institute's video library which includes sending out and tracking the videos. She assists five administrators and one director in an office support role. When asked what she likes most about her job, Emilie quickly responds, "The people…specifically my coworkers, they are amazing and I couldn't ask for a better group of people to work with. I also enjoy the callers and visitors to our department; I enjoy working with all people. I very much enjoy my job and coming to work every day!" Emilie's WIU journey began with the then Trainee Program (now Intern Program). "I was hired initially through the Trainee Program and have worked my way up. I want to continue in this department as long as I can." Emilie enjoys the Employee Wellness events at WIU. When she is not working, she likes to run, and has been running for five years. She likes to race! She also enjoys spending time with her 17-year old daughter.

HR salutes Emilie Payne as one of our many committed Civil Service employees at WIU!
