"The students are so diverse; I love that part of my job!"

Donna works in the Agriculture Dept., as an Office Manager. She serves as an assistant to the Director, is responsible for the office functions and finances for the department and the university farm. She helps students and works with 15 student organizations within the Ag Dept.

Donna began her WIU journey as a student at Western. She entered the work force in 1978 as a Secretary II in the English Dept. Her first supervisor was John Sekora, the then chair of the English Dept. Donna has been working in the Ag Dept. since 1988—THIRTY-EIGHT years at WIU! Donna enjoys working with students the most, and is especially fond of working on the Academic "side" of the house. "The students are so diverse; I love that part of my job!"

When asked what her Best Day at Work was, Donna responded right away, "Every day is a great day to be a Leatherneck!" Donna also served as President of the Civil Service Employees Council. She shared, "It helped me to learn the ropes and rules of Civil Service employment and the operations of WIU, in my first few years here."

When she is not at work, she still supports the mission of WIU and the Ag Dept. by attending events that the Ag Clubs host. "We are an active department, and I enjoy being there for our students." Donna is also an avid quilter and enjoys spending time with her three beautiful granddaughters, Griffin, Easton, and Adalynne.
