Financial Aid

While the program is designed to fit into the lifestyles of working professionals, you may also choose to pursue your graduate degree full-time. To assist you, the department offers graduate assistantships with monthly stipends and tuition waivers.

Assistantships are awarded on a competitive basis using undergraduate GPA, scholarship records, recommendations and/or professional experiences.

Assistantships

The IDT department has several graduate assistantships available each year. Students wishing to apply for these positions must file an application and submit three letters of recommendation to the department chair. Preference is given to students enrolled in the IDT graduate program. Selection is usually made late spring for the following academic year. However, occasionally openings occur at other times.

In addition to graduate assistantships, Western provides a number of financial aid programs including loans, grants, scholarships, work-study and part-time employment, and other financial aid programs. Complete information is available in the WIU Financial Aid Office, 309/298-2446.
