Alternative MP3 Players other than Apple iPod

For those people who do not want an iPod, or can’t afford to spend hundreds of dollars on an instrument that could get lost in your pocket, there are some alternative MP3 players out there.   Although there are some that are as expensive as an iPod, they all offer different advantages. 

1.  The first one on the list is an Archos 604 WiFi.  This 10.2 oz., 5.2” x 3.1” x .7” media player is much more than a simple MP3 player.   This device has a touch screen, and has the ability to surf the web anywhere, with WiFi.  The Archos 604 WiFi can also play video, record video from sources such as the television, and has the capability to act as a camcorder.  It can also show pictures, and of course play music.  The Archos WiFi has a 30 GB hard drive, and can store 25 movies, 300,00 pictures, or 8,000 songs.  With a battery life of up to 16 hours it is sure to entertain everyone.  It can be purchased for about $450.00 at http://www.shoparchos.com/.

2.  Microsoft Zune is also an alternative to an iPod and comes equipped with some of the same features.  It weighs 5.6 oz., and dimensions are, 4.4” x 2.4” x .6”.  That makes is a little smaller than the Archos 604 WiFi, but does not come equipped with the same features.  It has 30 GBs of storage, and can play audio, video, and show pictures.  The battery will last up to 14 hours.  The Zune can be purchased in black, brown, or white for about $250.00.

3.  For the music lovers out there who don’t want all of the fancy trimmings, there are MP3 players for you.  For example the Creative MuVo V100 is a simple MP3 player that only plays music.  It is a 1.64 oz., 2.93” x 1.44” x .59” MP3 that can hold up to 1000 songs and has a battery life of up to 18 hours.  In relation to the other MP3 players it is a lot smaller, but also carries a smaller price tag.  The Creative MuVo can be purchased for about $50.00.
