Tablet PC and Projector As many schools across the country continue to upgrade their technology, the tablet PC has found its way into today’s classrooms. Adding to the educational uses of the tablet PC, wireless multimedia projectors are giving teachers a new tool. Paring the tablet PC and a wireless projector creates a new, high-tech learning environment. Wireless projectors allow easy display of things like PowerPoint presentations, however tablet PC technology allows much more interaction. A network of tablet PCs connected to a wireless projector allows a student to submit his/her work directly from his/her tablet. For example, a math teacher displays a problem on the projector and asks students to complete it. A student can then access the projector and complete the assignment on the projector from his/her desk. Teachers are also able to use the tablet and projector as a blackboard, or an overhead transparency. Drawing models, writing notes, or annotating PowerPoint presentations can all be done in class with the tablet. One additional benefit to using the tablet is that teachers are able to save the notes on the hard drive and show them again for students who are absent. The school district in Hinsdale, Illinois is one example of a school district that has implemented the tablet PC and wireless projector into classrooms. The school district decided on installing Epson’s 3-LCD PowerLite projectors into all classrooms. This advance in technology allows students to have access to sources like the Internet, DVD’s, and even cable TV. The tablet PC’s applications along with the projector’s vibrant colors allow students to closely examine and manipulate multimedia right in the classroom. The use of wireless projectors is an important step in the evolution of classroom technology. Computers connected to projectors with long bundled cords can trip unsuspecting students and teachers. The Epson 3-LCD projectors have a light output of 2000 lumens, bright enough to be easily seen with the classroom lights still on. The projectors also have high-speed WiFi technology, which allows teachers to have mobility around the classroom while they are teaching. The wireless connection also allows the display of things such as streaming video. The projector can easily switch between multiple sources. The use of new multimedia technology can allow teachers to create a completely new method of teaching. Instead of having a student come to the blackboard to complete a problem in front of the class, the essential point can be turned to the students learning together, not only getting the correct answer. The use of new multimedia technology allows the material covered in class to have a stronger impact by helping teachers grab and hold students’ attention. For more information visit:
