We are now accepting applications for the Spring 2010 international student scholarships. All application packages must be received in Seal Hall 200 before Monday, November 2 at 4:30 pm. Every semester, the Center for International Studies is responsible for administering a number of scholarships awarded to currently enrolled international students. There are several different scholarship awards availble from semester to semester, and all students are welcome to apply for the awards, as long as they meet the stated criteria for the award.
It is now time to apply for the available international student scholarship awards
to be awarded in the Spring 2010 semester.
The scholarships available for the Spring 2010 semester are:
*Bessie Myers Scholarship Fund: 1 - $400 award
Must be current full or part-time international student, male or female
Financial need will be regarded as an important requisite

*Dr. In-Gon Kim Scholarship: $1000 to be awarded
Must be Korean National, GPA 3.0 or higher
Must demonstrate financial need
Must be within 1 semester/year of completing FIRST degree from WIU
Must be in good judicial standing

*WEOG Awards for International Students: 5 - $500 awards
Must be current full-time international student, male or female
Financial need will be regarded as an important requisite

*Ruth Hughes WESL Scholarship: $400 to be awarded
Open to a full-time student preparing to enter the field of ESL
Also open to graduates of the WESL institute who have become a regularly
admissible full-time students at Western Illinois University
Preference given to African–American students

*Francis and Peggy Davern International Scholarship: 1 - $150 award
Open to a full-time WIU international student
Must demonstrate financial need and meet GPA requirement.
Letter of recommendation from international graduate required.

*Macomb Branch AAUW International Student Scholarship: $570 to be awarded
Must be current full-time international student, male or female
Financial need will be regarded as an important requisite
Must have studied at WIU for two or more semesters

A few notes on the scholarship rules and regulations:
* You may apply for any scholarship which you meet the criteria for.
* If you will not be a student at WIU during the Spring 2010 semester,
you are not eligible for any of these scholarships. Award disbursement is
contingent upon Spring 2010 enrollment.
* Each individual application lists the required paperwork you must
submit in order to be considered for the award. An application package
consists of the completed application form and any other documents the
application requests.
* You must turn in one completed application package for each
scholarship award you apply for. For example, if you are applying for both
the WEOG and the AAUW awards, you must turn in an application for both.
* Any application package that does not contain all the required
documents will be thrown out.
* All applications must be received by the Center for International Studies Activities staff in Seal Hall 200
by 4:30 PM, Monday, November 2. No applications will be taken after that
day and time.
* Application packages will not be accepted through email. They must
be printed out and submitted to 200 Seal Hall. Application packages
can be left in the mailbox outside the door.
