Program overview:

Australia fascinates Americans due to the similarities and differences between the cultures. Australian agriculture shares this similar yet different characterization. While the equipment and products may be similar, agriculture is carried out in a much different manner. Large-scale farming is common, the main exports are different, and traditional Midwestern crops aren't so common there. Australia is a leader in world agricultural trade and much can be learned from how they achieved and maintain this position. It is also highly respected as a world leader in environmentally-friendly agriculture and in efficient use of renewable resources, particularly water.

This Study Abroad Course offers you a variety of opportunities to witness agricultural processes "down under". You will visit Charles Sturt University where you will tour livestock and other agricultural facilities and interact with your counterparts there. Additional visits are planned to farm businesses, vineyards, and wineries to explore other facets of agricultural enterprise. Cultural excursions round out the Course with stops in Melbourne and Sydney including a tour of the world-famous Opera House.
