Program overview:

Demand for service-related jobs is growing in the United States, especially in the commercial recreation/tourism/hospitality industry. Cruise lines are an important component of this industry and incorporate many disciplines in their operation including tourism, management, entertainment, advertising/marketing, and hospitality to name just a few. Disney Cruise Lines provide the perfect setting for learning about this industry. Besides being a well-known and well-respected member of the industry, they are one of the only cruise lines to have three distinct on-board experiences: children, adults only, and family, making them a unique opportunity for you to learn about providing services to various target groups.

This Study Abroad Course is designed to acquaint you with the process of operating a cruise ship. It is an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand information about the cruise line industry through unprecedented access to ship personnel and backstage operations. Not only will you take a cruise to the Bahamas, you will get to tour a destination resort and the Straw Market during the Nassau stop as well as experience the activities available at Castaway Cay, Disney's private island.
