eZedia Extended Activity

Create a class play based on a software product. Using iron-on transfers, print each child's illustration on white t-shirts. With the teacher as narrator, ask the children to play the parts of the characters in the software program. Videotape the play for the children and family members to review later.

Conclusion

After becoming more familiar with authoring programs, children's drawings and artwork can be animated, individual children's voices can be included (e.g. a children describing their drawings) and digital movies from the classroom can be merged into the program. Once these meaningful stories are created, they can be burned to a CD-ROM or DVD to allow children to revisit or share with classrooms and families. Authoring programs will encourage children to explore their own potential and the open-endedness will allow children to be limited only by imagination and equipment constraints.
