Make a Difference - Make a Gift
Greetings from University Libraries!
As many of you know, Western Illinois University's Libraries serve as the campus gateways for information and play an integral part in the life and learning of our university communities. In addition to housing an extensive collection, University Libraries offers online database access to thousands of academic periodic journals and publications. University Libraries provides research assistance; instruction in library use; group study space; lectures and special events; regional archives; a site location for Illinois Legal Aid Online; serves as the official records management for all University records; and student and community access to computers, printers, scanners and photocopiers. University Libraries participates in several consortiums and can borrow materials through the interlibrary loan process in a timely manner.
Scholarly journals, research indexes, books and electronic resources must be added to WIU's libraries in order to support existing and new programs, as well as reflect the globalization of information. The introduction of new programs and the ever-increasing inflationary rate to purchase materials demand a strong collection development budget, which is not currently supported by state funds. In addition, we must continue to upgrade the physical aspects of the Malpass Library equipment, furnishings, meeting and study spaces. It is vital to create active spaces for learning, collaborating and researching.
Your contribution can impact WIU Libraries in a number of ways, from the Library Atrium Society, which supports various operational expenditures, to the William H. and Eva Little Graham Student Assistant Scholarship, which aids students employed in the University Libraries. Archives/Special Collections, the Music Library, Legal Acquisitions, the Jeff Leibovitz Special Collection of Holocaust Education Materials, the Dr. Yan Lwin Physical Sciences Library Fund and the Linnea Self Health Sciences Collection are just a few of the other areas where your gift can make a difference.
Thank you for believing that WIU Libraries play an integral part of each student's learning experience. With your generous support, we can continue to improve for our current students and for generations to come.
