Resume Tips for BGS Majors with Extensive Experience in the Field

  • Highlight Professional Experience first
  • Use action words to start the bullet points
    • be very specific and descriptive
    • bullet points should be more than a few words, but not as long as a paragraph (usually about one sentence without the period)
    • use numbers to quantify money, amount of people worked/communicated with, events held, etc.
  • Highlight Internship Experience
  • Include relevant certifications
  • Include any foreign language fluency
  • Include course work if relevant to career path, but
    • include descriptive bullet points of the skills you gained from this experience, not just the assignments you completed
  • Education will be listed toward the bottom of the Resume (your experience is that important!)
