Persistent Links

"Persistent Links" connect users directly to a library database or article by clicking a link embedded in a webpage. Persistent Links can be useful when creating syllabi, online bibliographies and other research and information tools.

Linking to a Library Database

Simply visit the library's Select a Database page and locate the database you are interested in linking. "Right-mouse-click" the link and copy/paste it into your webpage or document.

Linking to an Article

Many WIU full-text library databases provide Persistent Link capabilities at the article and/or citation level. Each database vendor employs a different linking strategy. See detailed linking instructions for each database listed below (click the "Yes" link in the "Persistent Links" column). If you know the vendor name of your database, you can select the appropriate instructions on the left sidebar.

When creating links, be sure to use the Link Converter which adds a special prefix (https://wiulibraries.idm.oclc.org/login?url=) enabling access for all WIU users (both on and off-campus). Please note that vendor database content may change from time to time. Although article links may be persistent, it is possible they may not be permanent. For this reason, you are encouraged to test your links regularly and update them as needed.
