Instructions:

Persistent Links (FirstSearch)

How to create persistent links to individual articles in FirstSearch:

  1. Connect to a FirstSearch database through the library website (e.g., Wilson Select Plus)
  2. Find a full-text article
  3. Click the full-text link of the article (HTML or PDF)
  4. Click the "Link Pickup" icon at the top of the screen
  5. Copy the entire URL shown under "IP-address recognition URL for direct article access"
  6. Use the Link Converter to make the Persistent Link accessible to all WIU users (or copy this URL):
    • https://ezproxy.wiu.edu/login?url=
    • Example:
      • https://ezproxy.wiu.edu/login?url=http://firstsearch.
        oclc.org/FSIP?sici=0003-0554%2820020601%2996%
        3A2%3C421%3ATPDLSF%3E&dbname=
        WilsonSelectPlus_FT
  7. Test! Copy/paste the new link into your browser address bar to make sure it works (remove any spaces in the URL).
