Link Converter

Instructions:

Persistent Links (InfoTrac)

To create persistent links to individual articles in InfoTrac (Expanded Academic Index ASAP)

  1. Connect to InfoTrac through the library website
  2. Find a full-text article
  3. Click the "InfoMark" icon link in the toolbar (found in the banner area at the top of the page). Highlight and Copy the resulting InfoMark URL. A persistent link is unavailable if the toolbar's InfoMark link is "grayed out."
  4. Use the Link Converter to make the Persistent Link accessible to all WIU users (or attach the following prefix):
    • Example:
        url=http://find.galegroup.com/itx/infomark.
        do?contentSet=IAC
        -Documents&docType=IAC&type=retrieve
        &tabID=T002&prodId=EAIM&docId=
        A99490088&userGroupName=westerniul
        &version=1.0&searchType=BasicSearch
        Form&source=gale
  5. Test! Copy/paste the new link into your browser address bar to make sure it works (remove any spaces in the URL).

Other InfoMark uses:

Predefined Searches One common use for InfoMarks is to create a predefined search. Any combination of searching and limiting that produces citations can be saved. A predefined search could be as narrow as a specific search or as broad as, for example, all articles from a particular journal. Each time the saved link is selected, the search will be run anew, so the results are always fresh. To create a predefined InfoTrac search, save the InfoMark URL at the citation list, the page with a list of matching articles.

Search Setup To link to the currently selected database and search method, save a search page InfoMark. The link can then be used as a shortcut to a search entry box, ready for input.

Reading List You can create a "reading list" or similar application by performing a search, selecting the desired citations from the result, and saving the mark list page InfoMark. The link will provide a shortcut back to a list of the selected citations. From there, articles can be retrieved.
