The author of this article explores whether or not the clinical trials in Africa actually benefit Africans and contends that an international standard of ethical protections of those who participate in the clinical trials may be needed to ensure that poor countries are not exploited.
"To Be Female, Black, Incarcerated, and Infected with HIV/AIDS: A Socio-Legal Analysis". 64% of new HIV cases are Black women. The rise in HIV infection in females is occurring simultaneously with a big increase in the numbers of incarcerated females. This article looks at the statistics, the women's constitutional right to medical care, the community impact of these trends, and the need for change.
