This report analyzes the security and intelligence failures that lead to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, and makes recommendations for improvement, many of which haven't yet been followed. 2004

Availability of passenger safety information for improved survival in aircraft accidents. This study found that increased passenger awareness of what to do in emergency situations was needed to reduce injuries in accidents. 2004
Aviation Security: Flight and Cabin Crew Member Security Training Strengthened, but Better Planning and Internal Controls Needed: Report to Congressional Requesters. This report found that participation in self-defense training was low due to the inability of pilots and crew to get three consecutive days off.

The Status of the Air Traffic Controller Workforce. Due to the firing of 12,000 air traffic controllers in 1981 by President Reagan, their replacements, hired en masse, are due to retire over the next few years. 2005
Federal Aviation Administration's Oversight of Foreign Airline Safety. A hearing which presents findings regarding the adequacy of aircraft allowed into U.S. airspace. The data examines the aircraft of 30 foreign countries.Testimony is given by the President of the National Air Carrier Association, the Director of the International Airline Passengers Association, and others. 1995

Aviation Accident Synopses. This website provides monthly aviation accident statistics from 1987 to the present. Also given is an official statement explaining the cause of each accident.
FAA - Safety. This website has links to safety programs, pilot handbooks for various craft including balloons, gliders and ultralights, and data on delayed flights, unruly passengers, and wildlife strikes.

Safety Oversight of the Federal Aviation Administration. This hearing, in response to the crash of ValuJet flight 592, looks at smaller airline companies and how to improve the FAA's enforcement of safety issues in regard to those companies.
