Scholarly Publishing
Linda Zellmer, government information and data services librarian in the Western Illinois University Libraries, has prepared a useful page on "Scholarly Publishing in Crisis." There she describes the current situation in scholarly publishing, explaining the rising costs to libraries for purchasing access to refereed journal articles. She also provides information about a possible solution, viz., open access journals, and includes links to other resources on the topic as well. The rising cost of academic journals is a major concern for academic libraries right now, including our own.
