Digital Studio
What is the Studio?
The Digital Studio is a new media laboratory
with powerful computers, hardware, and software tools so you can create and publish high quality digital projects. There are tools for creating a wide variety of student, faculty, and staff projects like web pages, audio files, video files and graphics. This media can be combined to create DVD movies, interactive web sites, training tutorials, podcasts and
vodcasts, and informational presentations. Most of all it provides WIU students, faculty, and staff with the tools and support to express creativity and innovation using
digital technology!
Where is the Studio?
The Digital Studio is located on the 1st Floor of Malpass Library in Room 176.
When is the Studio open?
The Digital Studio hours are the same as the Malpass Library hours. Please check the Library Hours Page for regular operating hours and holiday closings.
What can you do in the Studio?
In the Digital Studio you can do a variety of media creation activities including: video capture
and editing, audio capture and editing, web site and graphic design. A major component of Studio services is connecting creative people with innovative machines and technology.
We've learned from experience that working smarter, not harder, will result in a richer, more organized project. If you are new to media developments there are tutorials, books, and support persons in the library that can help you get started. The studio is not for illegal downloading or copying audio, video, or other copyrighted content, pirating software, or creating materials that might be offensive to others. If you are not sure whether the studio is appropriate for your type of project, make sure you read the Policy on WIU Computing Use and the Studio Copyright Guide before beginning.
Studio Help
To help people design and build their media projects, studio staff and student assistants are available to provide support using studio equipment and software tools.
