Program Overview
Western Illinois University offers a unique Bachelor of Arts degree program—the Board of Trustees Bachelor of Arts Degree. This degree program is designed to provide adult students with an opportunity to earn a regionally accredited undergraduate degree in a manner compatible with their educational needs and lifestyles. This highly individualized and flexible program recognizes that adults may have attended a variety of educational institutions and accepts transfer of passing course work taken at other regionally accredited colleges and universities.
The WIU Board of Trustees Bachelor of Arts (BOT/BA) Degree Program is a great, flexible, educational option for adult students who maybe working full time and/or have family responsibilities to consider while earning their bachelor's degree. It was designed to serve adults who were unable to complete an undergraduate degree by traditional means. Therefore, no campus attendance is required and the entire degree can be earned at a distance.
The BOT/BA degree program offers students many flexible options of earning academic credit: allowing students to transfer up to 80 semester hours of college credits from community colleges, preparing a prior learning portfolio, successfully completing proficiency exams, and combining these with additional WIU college credits to create a personalized program of study.
Why Board of Trustees at WIU?
The BOT/BA degree program has a long history. It was developed in 1972 and has over 6100 graduates. Courses are offered at a distance at in-state tuition rates and there is no on-campus attendance required. The entire degree can be completed at a distance and the degree program can follow you if you change locations. There are no maintenance fees or graduation fees. Professional advising services are provided for every student. We accept ACE guide-evaluated military training as well as transfer work from Community College of the Air Force. The degree program is affiliated with the National Fire Academy and the Degrees at a Distance Program. There is no time limit to complete this degree.
