About the Department
Why Enroll in One of Our Programs?
- AACSB accredited.
- Outstanding teachers. Many programs claim to have outstanding faculty, but we can prove it. We have several faculty who have been recipients of national teaching awards, and several faculty members from the Department have been chosen as the Outstanding Teacher in the WIU College of Business and Technology.
Modest class sizes. We cap our classes at 40 for principles courses, and 25-35 for other courses. All classes are taught by WIU faculty, of which the majority hold a doctorate in their field. We do not use teaching assistants.
- Outstanding options. The department offers majors and minors in Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain Management, along with a minor in International Business. We also offer classes toward a Master of Business Administration.
- Recognized researchers. Our faculty are on the cutting edge of many developments in finance, marketing, and supply chain management. Over the past several years, WIU Marketing and Finance faculty research has appeared in many of the leading journals in marketing, finance, and supply chain management, and have received several awards for outstanding research.
- Scholarships. For a listing of scholarships currently available, visit the Scholarship Office.
- Student Organizations. There are five student organizations affiliated with our department.
What Are Our Goals?
The mission of the Department of Marketing and Finance is the continuous development, maintenance, and delivery of an educational program in the fields of Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain Management that provides a positive environment to enhance the professional development of students and faculty within the resources generated and allocated.
