Completion
The facility has been completed and occupants have moved into the new facility. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house were held April 6, 2007.
The Facility
The new Document and Publication Services & Property Accounting and Distribution Center is located on WIU property north of the existing Commissary Building in a cluster of service buildings in the far northwest corner of the main campus. The pre-engineered metal building on a concrete slab is approximately 14,000 gross square feet. Parking and a service dock were also included in the project.
Document and Publication Services (DPS) incorporated the former Curriculum Publications Clearinghouse, Union Copy Center, Stipes Copy Center, Mailing Services, and Word Processing Services into a single, integrated unit on February 1, 2005. The mission of DPS is to provide publication services from concept to delivery for the campus community by streamlining the publishing, printing, and duplication processes. DPS provides design, layout, editing, printing, production, premail preparation, distribution, and mailing services. The movement of the various components of DPS from four separate locations to a single location has enabled the new service center to operate more efficiently by taking advantage of economies of scale and professional expertise.
