| The MATC Pedagogy Symposium invites submissions for the twenty-fifth anniversary conference.Pedagogy has evolved and changed greatly over the past quarter of a century. Increasingly more focus has been placed on how to effectively teach all aspects of theatre to widely diverse populations beyond the traditional of university, community, and youth. Now theatre skills and theatre pedagogy are appearing in a wide array of inter-disciplinary venues including professional outreach of all kinds. We have come a long way from a time when pedagogy was a separate discipline focused primarily on the teaching of theatre in K-12, or in children’s theatre companies or youth theatre programs, to the present day where we see pedagogical theory integrated into the fiber of every course syllabus as well as such non-traditional uses as departmental planning. We invite proposals that explore where we’ve come from and where we are going pedagogically. Join us to celebrate the teaching of theatre by showcasing innovative projects, techniques and approaches, or taking a look at how pedagogy has changed over the years. |
