and M. William Karlins, electronic and computer music with Stephan Syverud,
Peter Gena, and Gary Kendall. B.M., Michigan State University. Studied
composition with David Liptak and Charles Ruggiero. Previous teaching
experience at DePaul University and Northwestern University. Compositions
have been performed on concerts and recitals at the W.I.U. New Music
Festival, The Texas Christian University Festival of Contemporary Music,
the VBDNA Symposium of New Music for Wind Ensemble, the Radford University
Center for Music Technology, New Music DePaul, The Michigan State University
Symposium of New Music, Northwestern University, University of Illinois
Funny Music, Penn. State, Florida State University, International Double
Reed Society, and the CMS National Meeting. Research in rhythmic theory,
music technology, analysis and aesthetics has been presented at national
and regional meetings of the College Music Society, a national Music
Technology Conference, and published in the Journal of Music Theory
Pedagogy. Director of W.I.U. New Music Festivals. Member of Phi Mu Alpha
Sinfonia, Pi Kappa Lambda, College Music Society, Society for Electro-Acoustic
Music, Association for Technology in Music Instruction, and BMI. Received
WIU Faculty Excellence Awards in 1991, 1995, and 1996. His Elegy
was recorded by the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra in summer 1994. See
