| The faculty includes specialists in voice and all band, orchestra, and keyboard instruments, who offer professional performance models and are dedicated to helping each student develop his or her music performance skills to the highest possible level. Outstanding directors in bands, choirs, and orchestras develop performance ensembles in which students learn to perform collectively far beyond their individual expectations. The excitement of being a part of superior ensemble performances is matched only by the opportunity to experience a broad range of ensemble literature. Nationally-known teachers in music theory, composition, music history, pedagogy, and music methods truly care about teaching and learning, and are willing to take time to ensure that the needs of each student are addressed. The WIU Music Faculty work together as a mature, experienced team of professionals who are actively involved in teaching, research, composing, arranging, performing, and conducting.
