WIU’s 2012 Homecoming Royalty

MACOMB, IL – Voting for Western Illinois University's 2012 Homecoming King and Queen will begin Friday online and on campus, with the winner crowned during the Thursday, Sept. 20 Yell Like Hell rally at 7 p.m. in Western Hall.

The theme for this year's celebration is 2012 "Cirque Du Western, The Carnival Never Ends."

Royalty candidates, by hometown, include:

AMBOY – Taylor Payne, a senior communication major with a double minor in marketing and management, is sponsored by the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Payne is serving his second term as president of Pi Kappa Alpha, has been the secretary for the Interfraternity Council and has participated in the "Stuff the Bus" food drive, "Take Back the Night" and serves food at local events with members of Pi Kappa Alpha.

CHICAGO (60620) – Jonathan McGee is a junior double majoring in law enforcement and justice administration and political science. McGee is sponsored by Corbin/Olson halls. McGee is currently serving as the student member of the WIU Board of Trustees and is president of the Black Student Association.

COLONA - Georgia "Jaylee" Underwood is a senior special education major, sponsored by the Alpha Sigma Tau sorority. Underwood is currently president of the sponsoring sorority and is a member of Phi Eta Sigma honors fraternity and the Student Education Association (SEA). She serves as a WIU cheerleader and volunteers for the Macomb Special Olympics and the McDonough County Special Recreation Association.

FREEPORT - Katy Ann Hattula is a senior double majoring in special education and elementary education, with an endorsement in math. Hattula is sponsored by Corbin/Olson halls. She is currently a resident assistant in Corbin Hall, treasurer of Big Buddies, volunteers with the Special Olympics and YMCA childcare and is a member of SEA at Western.

ILLINOIS CITY– Shea Bieri is a senior agriculture business major sponsored by Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. Bieri has been involved in AGR's "Smokin' Hog" event and golf outing, as well as WIU's annual "Stuff the Bus" food drive.

MCHENRY – Ethan Knight is a senior, double majoring in theatre and English. He is sponsored by Sigma Tau Delta, the international English honor society. Knight is the WIU chapter's president, is a member of the 2012 orientation team and has been involved with nine University Theatre productions at WIU.

MORRIS – Jess Vogen is a senior majoring in elementary education. She is sponsored by Higgins Hall. Vogen is involved with tutoring children at a local learning center, she is a member of the Student Education Association and is a residence assistant at Higgins Hall.

OAK FOREST – Tenisia "Tee" Adams, a senior English major, is sponsored by Corbin Hall Government. Adams is a member of Sigma Tau Delta, Inter Hall Council, the National Residence Hall Honorary and the Black Student Association.

RUSHVILLE - Hugues Muniania Lubangi is a junior double majoring in French and medical science. He is sponsored by Bayliss and Henninger halls. Lubangi, who is in the Centennial Honors College and is a member of the Pre-Professional Health Career Club, is originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

SANDWICH – Katelyn Kott is a senior elementary education major, sponsored by Higgins Hall. Kott serves as the chairperson of the Big Pink Volleyball Volunteers Committee and works with the National Residence Hall Honorary chapter and Camp Leatherneck.
