Annual WIU Marching Band Classic Oct. 27

MACOMB, IL – The 31st annual Western Illinois University Marching Band Classic for high school bands will be held Saturday, Oct. 27, on Hanson Field. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to Western Hall.

This annual event is a field competition in a two-division championship format. Overall champion trophies will be awarded in the small school division (Classes A and AA) as well as in the large school division (Classes AAA and AAAA). Placement trophies will be awarded to all bands in each class. Trophies will also be awarded for best drum major(s), percussion, winds and auxiliaries.

Participating schools and their performance times are:

Class A (small school division)
1:15 p.m. – Hamilton High School Marching Band
1:30 p.m. – Cambridge High School Marching Vikings
1:45 p.m. – Alwood High School Marching Band
2 p.m. – Westerfield High School Marching Band
2:15 p.m. – Dunlap High School Cadet Band

Class AA (small school division)
2:30 p.m. – Orion High School Marching Chargers
2:45 p.m. – Auburn High School Marching Tigers
3 p.m. – Rushville-Industry High School Marching Rockets
3:15 p.m. - Clark County High School Marching Indians (Kahoka, MO)
3:30 p.m. – Macomb High School Marching Bombers

Class AAA (large school division)
4:30 p.m. – Jacksonville High School Marching Crimsons
4:45 p.m. – Rockfalls High School Marching Rockets
5 p.m. – Mahomet-Seymour Township Marching Band
5:15 p.m. – Herscher High School Marching Tigers
5:30 p.m. - Metamora High School Red Bird Marching Band
5:45 p.m. – Geneseo High School Maple Leaf Marching Band

Class AAAA (large school division)
3:45 p.m. – Galesburg High School Marching Streaks
6:30 p.m. – Niles West High School Marching Wolves
7 p.m. – Thornwood High School Marching Thunderbirds
7:15 p.m. – East Peoria High School Marching Raiders
7:30 p.m. – Mundelein High School Marching Mustangs
7:45 p.m. – DeKalb High School Marching Barbs
8 p.m. – Maine West High School Marching Warriors
8:15 p.m. – Davenport Central High School
8:30 p.m. – Rock Island High School The Pride of Rock Island
8:45 p.m. – LaSalle-Peru Township High School Marching Cavaliers
9 p.m. – Dunlap High School Marching Eagles

The WIU Marching Leathernecks, under the direction of Associate Director of Bands Matt Thomas, will provide two performances during the day, first at 6 p.m. and again at 9:15 p.m.

Admission to the Marching Band Classic is $7 for adults, $4 for students and children under 5 are admitted free. WIU students will be admitted free with a valid student ID card.
