Election Discussion Coming to Western Oct. 30

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Department of History will host a discussion of the 2012 presidential election Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 12:15 – 1:45 in the Multicultural Center.

Three historians will give their perspectives during the brown bag event:

- Richard Filipink will speak on, "Has the Candidate Approved This Message? Negative Campaigning in Presidential Elections."
- Peter Cole will discuss, "From the Bottom Up: Why Candidates Should be Talking More about Climate Change, the New Jim Crow, and the Occupy movement."
- Roberto Mazza will present, "The Middle East and the 2012 Elections: Fantasy Politics on Display."
