Pep Band to Play at Leatherneck Basketball Games

MACOMB, IL – The Western Illinois University Pep Band will be on hand at several men's and women's basketball games this season to get the student athletes and Leatherneck fans alike fired up.

According to Pep Band Conductor and Associate Director of Bands Matt Thomas, the band will be seated and playing on the west end of Western Hall on the dates listed below and will begin playing about 30 minutes before the start of each game.

"Not only does the music they play inspire the team—there is nothing better as an athlete than hearing your own fight song being played in reaction to something great you just accomplished—but the band's enthusiasm truly ignites the whole environment," Thomas said. "I think many would agree the band members are some of the biggest, most active fans at any athletic event. We are very excited about this season and look forward to supporting our teams," he added.

Thomas noted that out of the 65 Pep Band members, 30-35 student band members will play at the each of the scheduled games.
