MACOMB, IL – Auburn High School senior Benjamin Pearce, of Loami, IL, has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which covers four years of tuition, fees and a residence hall room at the school.

High school students with an ACT score of 32 or higher and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

At WIU, Pearce plans to major in engineering technology and minor in business.

Pearce said he chose Western "because it was a great school, close to home and it is very affordable."

At Western, Pearce hopes to try out for the cross country and track team.

In high school, Pearce was active in track, cross country, the scholastic bowl team, wrestling and the National Honor Society.

After graduation, Pearce plans to design high performance engines.
