MACOMB, IL.-- The 13th annual spring conference for Western Illinois University’s Rural Transit Assistance Center (RTAC) will be held Tuesday through Thursday, April 2-4 at the Northfield Center in Springfield, IL.

On Tuesday, April 2, a panel discussion will highlight transportation coordination. Members of the panel will include representatives from such Illinois agencies as the departments of Transportation, Aging and Human Services. These agencies provide funding for transportation or deliver services that contain transportation components. The director of the Rural Affairs Council will join the panel, in which a moderator will ask questions with the intent of improving transportation coordination for the state.

Other presentations include eligible cost guidelines, emergency preparedness, vehicle maintenance, legal issues and scheduling. The Illinois Public Transportation Association (IPTA) will host a legislative breakfast 8-10 a.m. at the Rathskeller in the State Capitol Building during the conference. For more information on the breakfast, contact Linda Podeschi at 217/522-4782.

Registration for the conference is free, but reservations are required. To register by the Monday, March 18 deadline, call RTAC at 800/526-9943 or email at rtac@wiu.edu.
