MACOMB, IL – Lynn Bainter, a building service worker in Sherman Hall, has been named the Western Illinois University Al & Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for January.

Bainter was hired at WIU in July 1986 as a grounds worker (extra help), and was hired as a full-time as a building service worker in 1989. According to Bainter's nominators, he "goes above and beyond his duties" in working with the offices in Sherman Hall.

"It is really wonderful to have someone who is so positive about what they do," the nominators said. "He is friendly, personable and his work is top notch. The quality of his work and the manner in which he conducts himself speaks highly of the Physical Plant."

In August 2010, the Goldfarbs established an endowment to permanently fund the University's Civil Service Employee of the Month award. The Goldfarb endowment is used to fund a $100 award for the recipient of the Civil Service Employee of the Month, as well as a plaque.

Western faculty, staff and administrators, as well as community members, wishing to nominate a civil service employee for this monthly recognition should contact Civil Service Employees Council (CSEC) Public Relations Representative Wendi Mattson at WK-Mattson@wiu.edu.
