Broadway Actor Magnuson to Discuss Acting Career at WIU Feb. 5

MACOMB, IL – Broadway and theatre actor Ben Magnuson will be on the Western Illinois University campus Tuesday, Feb. 5 to speak with students about his work.

The discussion will be held from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m. in Simpkins Hall, room 001.

Magnuson most recently appeared as the Boatman in "Sunday in the Park With George," at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre. He has also performed in "Guys and Dolls" and in "Sweeney Todd" on Broadway and on an episode of the NBC Television show "30 Rock."

Magnuson has won numerous theatre awards and received his bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Cincinnati College – Conservancy of Music in 2003.

WIU Department of Theatre representatives expect Magnuson to talk about his work with Stephen Sondheim and John Doyle and the reasons he decided to leave the New York/Broadway market and focus on a theatre career in Chicago.

The event is open free to the public.
