MACOMB, IL – Macomb High School senior Bryce Conrad has been selected for Western Illinois University's Centennial Honors Scholarship, which covers four years of tuition, fees and a residence hall room at the school.

High school students with an ACT score of 32 or higher and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher are eligible for the scholarship.

At WIU, Conrad plans to double major in accounting and music education.

Conrad said he chose Western because of his experience with the University's professors and based on recommendations of friends.

"Several of my friends attending Western have had great experiences," he said. "I already know many professors, both in the music department and in the business department. They have all been very kind to me and have opened up many opportunities, even during my first years of high school."

At Western, Conrad is considering trying out for the Ultimate Frisbee Team and possibly getting involved in student government.

In high school, Conrad was involved in Ecology Club, Interact, jazz band, Wind Symphony, marching band, National Honor Society, Solo and Ensemble Competitions, District Band, All-Conference Band, Honor Band of America, All-State Honor Band and many hours of volunteering.

After graduation from Western, Conrad said he hopes to find a way to combine his two majors into a career.
