MACOMB, IL – Willowbrook High School senior Katie Kielminski, of Villa Park, has been selected for a Centennial Honors Scholarship, which covers four years of tuition, fees and a residence hall room at Western Illinois University.

High school students with an ACT score of 32 or higher and a grade point average of 3.5 or higher have the opportunity to apply for the scholarship.

At WIU, Kielminski plans to major in mathematics.

Kielminski said she chose Western because of the Centennial Honors Scholarship and because of the "homey" feel of the campus.

"Everyone there is super enthusiastic, and anyone would feel comfortable there," she said.

In high school, Kielminski was a cheerleader, participated in Orchesis for three years, was in Willowbrook's Blue Crew and served on the planning committee for the local Relay for Life event.

After graduation from WIU, Kielminski said she would like to teach high school.
