Alison Robuck Guest Oboe Recital Feb. 23

MACOMB, IL - - Oboist Alison Robuck will present a guest oboe recital at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall.

Robuck will perform "Sonata in E Major," by Jean Baptiste Loeillet, "Sonate for Oboe and Piano," by Paul Hindemith and "Sonata for Oboe and Piano," by Henri Dutilleux. Staff accompanist Narae Joo will accompany Robuck.

Robuck is an instructor at Bradley University. She has performed with the Missouri Symphony Orchestra, Baroque Artists of Champaign (IL), Sinfonia da Camera, the Champaign-Urbana (IL) Symphony, the Indianapolis Symphony, the Evansville (IL) Philharmonic Orchestra, the Illinois Symphony and the Prairie Ensemble. She has participated in many music festivals including Music Academy of the West, Sarasota (FL) Music Festival and the Aspen (CO) Music Festival. She earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia and her masters and doctoratal degrees at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Joo has received many awards for her performances. She won the grand prix of the Moulin International Piano Competition, was a prize winner in the 2007 Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition and was named the winner of the University of Michigan Concerto Competition.

In her native South Korea, Joo won the Ewon National Music Competition award, the Korea National Scholarship competition and the KumHo Art Foundation Young Artist Award. She received her bachelor's degree in music from the Seoul National University, her master's degree from the University of Michigan and is currently working on her doctorate at the Eastman School of Music.

The concert is open free to the public.
