WIU Chamber Winds and Chamber Players featuring Third Marine Aircraft Wing Brass Quintet April 10

MACOMB, IL - - Western Illinois University School of Music's Chamber Winds and Chamber Players will perform with the Third Marine Aircraft Wing Brass Quintet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 10 in the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) Recital Hall.

The program for the performance includes "Et in Terra Pax," Giovanni Gabrieli, "Quintet," by Michael Kamen, "Suite for Brass," by Thomas Tyra, "Second Suite for Military Band in F," by Gustav Holst, "Serenade in D Minor," by Antonín Dvořák, "Prelude and Toccata for Brass," by WIU Music Professor Randall Faust, "La Virgen de La Macarena," by Rafael Mendez, "Washington Post March" and "The Stars and Stripes Forever," by John Philip Sousa.

Faust and Director of Bands Mike Fansler will conduct the Chamber Winds, and Associate Director of Bands Matt Thomas will conduct the Chamber Players.

The Third Marine Aircraft Wing Brass Quintet is based out of Miramar, CA. It is composed of Sgt. Robert C. Siletzky, trumpet; Sgt. Erich W. Woolley, trumpet; Cpl. Jonathan R. Cobb, horn; Cpl. Wesley D. Piehl, tuba; and LCpl. Giovanni Scarramuzzo, trombone. It is one of two brass quintets the Marine Reserve Band has. The quintets have performed at various military ceremonies, the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange and NBC's "Today" show, and they have made appearances on CNN, Fox News Channel and the 9/11 Memorial in New York City, NY. Their repertoire is very diverse, containing patriotic, classical, Dixieland and jazz music.
