Earthfest Planned for April 20

MACOMB, IL – The annual Macomb Earthfest celebration will be held Saturday, April 20 in downtown Macomb.

The event, which will help celebrate Earth Day, is being organized by the WIU Campus Greens organization and is open free to the public. Events run from 1 – 6 p.m. in Chandler Park and from 6 – 10 p.m. in the West Central Illinois Arts Center, on the east side of the Macomb square.

Events planned include live bands, games and informational tables. Entertainers scheduled to perform include Casual Ties, Flyover, Dan Eilers, Tim Rice and guests, Hickory Bend, Stephen Lane and Hannah Porter.

Other events planned include a bicycle decorating contest, the crowning of Mr. and Ms. Earthfest and a "freecycle" station. Campus Greens have been collecting clothing and other "gently used" items that will be given away during the event.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Macomb Community Garden.

In case of rain, the event will be moved to the auditorium on the third floor of Sherman Hall.
