MACOMB, IL — Is the urge to learn about economic and finance principles gnawing at your inner investor? What about a course to help you learn those language, photography, web or computer skills you've been thinking about improving? How about enrolling in a healthy cooking class or taking a course covering sustainable landscape practices?

The back-to-school season is getting underway, and there's no better time to consider taking a Western Illinois University course or two to enhance your personal or professional life.

Western employees are eligible for a tuition waiver for up to six semester hours of course work per semester. Employees can enroll in courses designed for non-degree and degree-seeking individuals for academic, professional and personal development, and the application fee will be waived if an employee applies to the University to take advantage of Western's offerings. Interested employees can search and view courses at www.wiu.edu/registrar/courses.php.

Individual employees should meet with their supervisors to discuss options if a course is scheduled during normal working hours.

Tuition-waiver forms for current civil service employees can be found on the WIU Human Resources' website at www.wiu.edu/vpas/human_resources/forms.php (downloadable PDF available at http://bit.ly/1861paY); tuition-waiver forms for academic and administrative personnel can be found online at www.wiu.edu/provost/forms/index.php.
